Wow, just a few months ago, my body had no idea what it felt like to balance on its toes, feet, or shoulders. At one point, I truly believed that my body wasn't made for yoga. I owe these results to goal setting! The moment I started setting goals, I started to see an immense amount of change physically, and mentally. I am excited for these next couple of months, and the goals I have set for my body. Here are 3 of the goals I am focusing on…
1. Splits. This was my goal in December. Still my goal. My hips, and my hamstrings are moving in the right direction. Just taking its precious time. I appreciate this. I am becoming a lover of hip openers! I am slowly getting there, and I know with dedication, one day it will happen. With practice all things are possible.
2. Calming my spirit. Yoga is not just about the physical. Many times we get caught up in the cool asana(s) that we forget to silence the mind. I have to often remind myself that in order to balance, one’s spirit must be calmed.
3. Being more mindful of my diet. I believe that my diet, my emotional and my physical well-being are all intertwined. Taking care of my spirit, also means taking care of my body from inside out.
I encourage you to set personal goals. WRITE them down, as well. Goals that will allow you to look in the mirror and be able to smile confidently. Goals that will lead you to a healthier lifestyle. Goals that will allow you to be the best version of you.
